Statewide Database Down for Planned Maintenance: October 16-18

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services will be improving the Wisconsin Electronic Disease Surveillance System (WEDSS), beginning the evening of Friday, October 16 and lasting through the evening of Sunday, October 18. This is the system all local health departments use for contact tracing and storing case information.

Impact of this system upgrade

During the time the system is being upgraded, it will not be accessible to local health departments statewide. In Dane County, this means we will not do contact tracing or update our data dashboard.

Data Dashboard - We plan to update the dashboard no later than Tuesday, after tabulating the data collected over the weekend.

Contact Tracing - We have planned for additional contact tracing support on Monday so we are able to reach out to all people diagnosed with COVID-19 to conduct contact tracing as soon as possible. The update will not impact people getting test results.

This important system upgrade includes several enhancements such as improved contact tracing functionality, automated data entry, and enhanced security features.

The reporting of COVID-19 test results will not be impacted.

People will still receive their results through their provider or COVIDConnect if they were tested at a community test site.

Since the data dashboard will not be updated this weekend, we will update the data dashboard one more time on today, 10/16, around 4 pm.
