Current Funding Opportunities

Harm Reduction Drop-In Center

We are seeking a qualified applicant to establish a Harm Reduction and Prevention Drop-In Center that acts as a nonjudgmental community hub offering a safe environment and trauma-informed services that meets people where they are, reduces immediate health risks, and helps individuals connect to care and long-term support. The goal is to reduce stigma, prevent overdose deaths, promote health and dignity, and connect people to care through a welcoming, accessible environment.

Total funds available: 

$2,400,000 over three years ($800,000 per year)

Eligibility:

Eligibility is open to all non-governmental agencies. We reserve the right to evaluate applicants' ability to successfully complete the project and appropriately manage funds.

Violence Prevention Grant Program

For this year’s Violence Prevention Grant Program, we are seeking to fund programs that will support the existing work of the Public Health’s Violence Prevention Unit in four high need communities in Dane County: Kennedy Heights, Parks Cedar, Harmony, and Madison Estates. To support these communities this grant will fund programs that focus on four funding categories: child/youth engagement, teen engagement, adult engagement, and mental health.

  • Project period: January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026

At the April 7, 2026 Board of Health meeting, the board approved the resolution to enter in grant agreements with the following agencies:

  • Girls on the Run of South Central Wisconsin, $9,500
  • Dane County Library Services, Department of Dane County, $46,780
  • Operation Fresh Start, $35,000
  • Kennedy Heights Neighborhood Association, $36,000
  • WRTP | BIG STEP, $35,000
