Respiratory Illness Dashboard

Key Takeaways for the Week of 1/16

  • ER visits for all respiratory illnesses continue to be elevated and are at a moderate level. About 40% of kids 4 and under who were seen in the ER last week were diagnosed with a respiratory illness.
  • The amount of people in the ER with flu is elevated across all age groups and remains at a moderate level overall. The percent of positive flu tests and flu-related hospitalizations also continue to increase.
  • RSV is primarily impacting kids 4 and under. Nearly 10% of 0-4 year olds who went to the ER last week were diagnosed with RSV. RSV-related hospitalizations also continue to rise.
  • There is still lots of other respiratory gunk out there like pertussis, human metapneumovirus (hMPV), and rhino/enterovirus circulating at high levels.
