Key Takeaways for the Week of 11/27
- This week, due to the Thanksgiving holiday, we updated the dashboard on Wednesday, November 27th.
- Are you experiencing cold symptoms? Could be rhinovirus (common cold), enterovirus, or parainfluenza. In the last month, all of these viruses have been detected at higher levels in lab tests done in Dane County.
- School absences due to illness are much higher than last week and overall remain elevated in comparison to the beginning of the school year (based on one school district in Dane County).
- Visits to the emergency room for any respiratory illness continue to increase. These increases are especially big in people 17 and under. There was a slight increase in COVID activity, but we are still seeing low levels of COVID, flu, and RSV activity in our emergency department data. This means that other types of respiratory illness are likely bringing kids into the emergency department.
Dashboard Update Schedule
This dashboard is updated on Thursdays at 12:30 pm. If the dashboard is not updated then, we may be experiencing technical issues; check back at 4:30 pm. If we experience a delay in receiving data from one of our data sources, that data element will be updated the following week.
