Help Our Community Stay Prepared for Emergencies: Public Health Accepting Applications for Funding Opportunity
Public Health Madison & Dane County is now accepting applications from local organizations interested in helping their community stay prepared for emergencies.
$70,000 in funding is available through a Community Response and Preparedness Grant provided by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The agency plans to distribute the funds to five agencies.
The funds aim to help local organizations prepare for moments of crisis and respond to meet the needs of their community when they happen. Public Health is looking for applications that showcase how the money will be used to address at least one of the following emergency preparedness priorities:
- Cyber Attack
- Epidemic/Pandemic
- Computer Failure
- Supply Disruption
- Power Outage (Sustained)
- Air Quality Emergency
- Biological Disease Outbreak – Pandemic flu
- Flooding
- Ice Storm
- Extreme Heat
- Major Communications Disruption
Some specific examples include purchasing a back-up generator in case of ongoing power outages, providing community outreach and education training on cyber security, or stockpiling air filters to improve and address air quality concerns.
