Key Takeaways for the Week of January 29, 2026

  • We are working to update our thresholds under the weekly summary part of the landing page, in the meanwhile we've directly applied DHS' thresholds to the more current data presented on our dashboard.
  • In the emergency department last week, just under half of kids 4 and under and just over a quarter of kids aged 5 to 17 were diagnosed with a respiratory illness.
  • Based on emergency department data, flu continues to spread and is at a moderate levelimpacting kids aged 17 and under the most. Last week, over 80% of air samples from schools within Dane County were positive for flu.
  • RSV is at a moderate level, primarily effecting kids under 4. The percentage of positive RSV tests has been steadily increasing since the beginning of the year.
  • COVID-19 wastewater levels remain elevated in Madison and Oregon, alongside a steady increase in the percentage of tests and school air samples positive for COVID-19 over the past several weeks.
