Come (period) party with us!

posted

Menstruation education is important, period. As a society, we don’t talk openly enough about puberty and periods. In fact, much about women’s bodies is either not studied sufficiently or not talked about openly and menstruation is no different.

To demystify and destigmatize these topics, we’re partnering with Madison Public Library to host the third annual Period Party this September! This year, we’re having four events where your family can go to learn about menstruation, puberty, period products, and get your questions answered in a safe and welcoming environment. Each event will have a speaker, activities, and (of course!) snacks. See below for more information. Registration is requested. We hope to see you there!

  • Puberty & Menstruation 101, September 2 at Goodman South Madison Library: We’ll have presentations about the basics or puberty and menstruation for youth and their families.
  • Period Products 101, September 9 at Goodman South Madison Library: A healthcare professional from public health will talk about different types of period products, do demonstrations, and answer questions.
  • Menstrual Inequity, September 16 at Goodman South Madison Library: We’ll learn more about menstrual inequity and why menstruation products are basic necessities, not luxuries.
  • Period Party: A Menstruation Celebration, September 20 at the Atrium in Villager Mall: At the final event, we’ll have a photo booth, snacks, free menstruation and sexual health products, and more!
