How can you get free COVID treatment delivered? It’s easier than you might think.

Did you know if you test positive for COVID, you have access to free treatment telehealth services regardless of your insurance? It’s thanks to a Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) program. Whether you just tested positive or you just want to be prepared, we’re going to walk you through the very simple process.

Antiviral treatments are another tool in the fight against COVID

Testing positive for COVID can be scary, especially when you are high risk for getting seriously sick. Oral antivirals, like Paxlovid and Molnupiravir, have changed the game when it comes to treating COVID. Antivirals stop the virus that causes COVID from making copies of itself in your body. In other words, doctors can prescribe these treatments for you to take at home to reduce your chance of ending up in the hospital or worse and may reduce the risk of “long COVID”. The catch: antiviral treatments must be started within five days of your symptoms starting.

COVID Treatment Telehealth is a phone call or mouse click away

If you are over 18 and currently live in Wisconsin, you can get connected with antiviral treatments fast, by either calling 833-273-6330 or going online to access the state’s telehealth portal. After creating an account, you just have to fill out some personal information, including medications, health conditions, family history, allergies, etc. This part takes about 5-10 minutes.

If you’re eligible, you’ll be matched with a licensed clinician to see if Paxlovid or Molnupiravir antiviral treatments are right for you. You can choose either a phone call or a video call. The consultation will start within 30 minutes after your submit the request. Prescriptions can either be delivered or picked up at your local pharmacy.

Before getting started, make sure you have these things handy:

  • A list of medications, supplements, or vitamins you are taking.
  • A copy of your lab results within the last three months if you have kidney disease.

The best news of all: these services are available to you seven days a week, from 8:00am-8:00pm (CT), at absolutely no cost to you, in a variety of languages. DHS offers this COVID Treatment Telehealth program in collaboration with Color Health Inc. If you have more questions about these drugs and this service, there is more information, including some FAQ, on the DHS website.
