How Can I Get an Appointment at Alliant Energy Center For a Vaccine?

Since December 29, we have given over 40,000 doses of vaccine at Alliant Energy Center! Our process for signing people up, sending them appointments, and getting them vaccinated has changed a lot over the past few months, and we wanted to shed more light on how things work behind the scenes. Here’s how it works:

Step 1. You complete the sign up form at vaccinate.wi.gov.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services runs vaccinate.wi.gov. When you land on this page, you’ll share your name, birthdate, and other basic demographic information. You’ll also share if you belong to a certain prioritized group, such as if you’re a teacher. While everyone 16 years old and older is eligible for vaccine in Wisconsin, we still attempt to prioritize people who are most at risk to get appointments first.

After you enter your demographic info, it will take you to a page to schedule an appointment. However, you will not see the Alliant Energy Center as a listed site. This is because our site is invite only. While it appears that you can’t schedule an appointment, we have your information and will be sending you an invitation. Once you have submitted your form, we get access to your information since you are a Dane County resident. 

Step 2. Receive notification from Wisconsin Department of Health Services that you are eligible to receive an appointment.

This is where it gets a little tricky. You might get an email right away or shortly after from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services that you are eligible for an appointment. This email will come from an address that ends with “@dhs.wisconsin.gov”. You might be able to schedule an appointment with another vaccinator—several use the vaccinate.wi.gov system—but if you’re looking to get a vaccine in Dane County at the Alliant Energy Center, you will have to wait for an appointment email to come from Public Health Madison & Dane County. This invitation will come from a “@publichealthmdc.com” email.

Step 3. Receive an appointment invitation from Public Health Madison & Dane County.

Each week, once we know how many doses we will be receiving from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, we begin to send appointments. When we have a dose and an appointment available, we’ll send you an email. This email will come from an email address ending with “@publichealthmdc.com”. You’ll have the option to pick your date and time for the week.

Because of response rates (see below) we do send out more invitations for appointments than appointments we have available. If you need vaccine, please confirm your appointment time as soon as you’re able. It’s also a good idea to check your spam folder once a day, just in case our invitation ended up there!

Step 4. Get vaccine!

On the day of your appointment, double-check our Navigating Alliant Energy Center page for the latest info on where to go once you arrive.Your appointment email will identify which vaccine you are getting. You will need to show the email you received and any other forms the email asked you to bring. You do not need to bring an ID

If you’re getting a 2-dose vaccine, we will send you an appointment to schedule your second vaccine the week before you’re due for your second dose. If you’re getting a 1-dose vaccine, you’re “one and done”!

How Long Will I Wait for an Appointment?

It can vary depending on your situation (see Step 1) and how much vaccine of each type we’ve received for a week. For example, if you are 16 or 17 years old, you can only receive the Pfizer vaccine at this time, and we can’t send an appointment unless we receive Pfizer vaccine for the week. As of April 9, 2021, if you sign up today, your chances of getting an appointment in the next week or two are good.

Throughout the spring, we have encouraged eligible folks to get vaccine from any vaccinator they can. This means many people have signed up at vaccinate.wi.gov, through a healthcare provider, and maybe through a local pharmacy. As a result, a lot of people on the vaccinate.wi.gov list that we send appointments to, have already received a vaccine from another provider and no longer need an appointment with us. Unfortunately, as of now, the state registry at vaccinate.wi.gov does not provide users a way to remove themselves or share that they have been vaccinated elsewhere, so it makes it hard for us to know how many people will respond to the appointments we send.

For example, we might send 10,000 appointment invitations out and only hear back from 2,000 people. This makes it hard for us to communicate to the public how long you might have to wait for a vaccine once you’ve signed up on our list.

¿Cómo puedo conseguir una cita en Alliant Energy Center para una vacuna contra COVID-19?

Si bien parece que no puedes programar una cita Alliant Energy Center, el Departamento de Salud Pública tiene tu información y te enviaremos una invitación. Una vez que hayas llenado tu formulario, tendremos acceso a tu información ya que vives en el condado de Dane.

Paso 2. Recibe una notificación del Departamento de Servicios de Salud de Wisconsin de que eres elegible para recibir una cita.

Aquí es donde se puede poner confuso. Es posible que recibas un correo electrónico de inmediato o poco después del Departamento de Servicios de Salud de Wisconsin informándote que eres elegible para una cita. Este correo electrónico vendrá de una dirección que termina en "@dhs.wisconsin.gov". Es posible que pueda programar una cita con otro vacunador (varios usan el sistema vaccinate.wi.gov), pero si deseas obtener una vacuna en el condado de Dane en el Alliant Energy Center, tendrás que esperar un correo electrónico procedente del Departamento de Salud Pública de Madison y del Condado de Dane, para hacer la cita. Cada semana, una vez que sabemos cuántas dosis recibiremos del Departamento de Servicios de Salud de Wisconsin, comenzamos a enviar citas. Cuando tengamos una dosis y una cita disponible, te enviaremos un correo electrónico. Este correo electrónico vendrá de una dirección de correo electrónico que termina en "@publichealthmdc.com". Tendrás la opción de elegir la fecha y la hora de la semana.Debido a la cantidad de respuesta (ver más abajo), enviamos más invitaciones para citas que citas disponibles. Si necesitas una vacuna, confirma la hora de tu cita tan pronto como puedas. También es una buena idea revisar tu carpeta de correo no deseado una vez al día, ¡en caso de que nuestra invitación termine allí!

Paso 4. ¡Recibe la vacuna!

El día de tu cita, consulta nuestra página Navegando Alliant Energy Center para obtener la información más actualizada sobre dónde ir una vez que llegues. El correo electrónico de tu cita dice qué vacuna recibirás. Deberás mostrar el correo electrónico que recibiste y cualquier otro formulario que el correo electrónico te indica que traigas. No es necesario traer una identificación

Si recibes una vacuna de 2 dosis, te enviaremos una cita para programar tu segunda vacuna la semana antes de la fecha límite para tu segunda dosis. Si recibes una vacuna de 1 dosis, ¡es una y listo!

¿Cuánto tiempo esperaré para una cita?

Puede variar según tu situación (consulta el Paso 1) y la cantidad de vacuna de cada tipo que hayamos recibido durante una semana. Por ejemplo, si tienes 16 o 17 años, en este momento solo puedes recibir la vacuna de Pfizer y no podemos enviar una cita a menos que recibamos la vacuna de Pfizer para la semana. A partir del 9 de abril de 2021, si te inscribes hoy, tus posibilidades de obtener una cita en la próxima semana o dos son buenas.

A lo largo de la primavera, hemos alentado a las personas elegibles a que se vacunen con cualquier vacunador que puedan. Esto significa que muchas personas se han inscrito en vaccinate.wi.gov, a través de un proveedor de atención médica y tal vez a través de una farmacia local. Como resultado, muchas personas en la lista vaccinate.wi.gov a las que enviamos citas, ya han recibido una vacuna de otro proveedor y ya no necesitan una cita con nosotros. Desafortunadamente, a partir de ahora, el registro estatal en vaccinate.wi.gov no brinda a los usuarios una forma de eliminarse o compartir que han sido vacunados en otro lugar, por lo que nos resulta difícil saber cuántas personas responderán a las citas que nosotros enviamos.
