Additional Funding to Support Violence Prevention Programs

posted

Starting today, Public Health Madison & Dane County is accepting applications from local community organizations to receive funding that supports violence prevention efforts in Dane County.

In 2022, Public Health first launched the series of funding opportunities for community projects that aligned with goals laid out in the Roadmap to Reducing Violence

Since then, the agency has funded 13 local organizations, awarding a total of $759,860. The projects that benefitted from this money ranged in their scope and services but each supported violence prevention efforts in the community.

The first rounds of funding became available through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). This latest round is funded through grants from the Dane County and the City of Madison. In total, there is $410,000 available. While violence prevention is the overall umbrella for this funding, the agency is prioritizing projects that focus on:

  • Youth development
  • Safe and affordable housing
  • Supporting agencies to adopt culturally responsive treatment planning
  • Supporting the expansion of emergency mental health services
  • Hospital based intervention programming for victims of gun violence

Applications are due by the end of the day on December 20, 2023. Find more information at publichealthmdc.com/ViolencePrevention or apply now.
