- Safer injection drug use equipment

Take Steps for Safer Drug Use
Any drugs not dispensed by a pharmacy, including opiates, cocaine, pills and meth, can contain contaminants that cause wounds. Opiates in stimulants or that are stronger than you expect can cause overdose, or other medical emergencies.
Follow these steps for safer drug use(opens in a new window):
- Test all drugs for fentanyl(opens in a new window) and test opioids for Xylazine before using
- Have naloxone or Narcan® on hand
- Try not to use drugs alone. Call Never Use Alone(link is external) at 877-696-1996
- Recognize the signs of an overdose(link is external):
- Pale, sweaty or clammy skin
- Lips/fingertips turn blue
- Slow or irregular breathing: gasping, gurgling, or snoring
- Difficult or unable to wake
- Always call 911 if you suspect someone is overdosing
- Check in with your friends/family who use drugs when there is an increase in overdoses in our area

Get Tested for HIV and Hepatitis C
Sharing equipment to use drugs can spread HIV and Hepatitis C(link is external). We do HIV and Hepatitis C testing at our Sexual and Reproductive Health Clinic.
Testing and treatment is available by appointment. Call 608-243-0411 for information and to make an appointment.
