Booster Shots Authorized by CDC for Certain People Who Previously Received Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine

Last night, the CDC authorized booster doses for certain populations. We are still working through this information. We do not have booster doses available at any of our locations at this time. We will provide further updates once we are able to give out booster doses. This is a rapidly evolving situation and information may change quickly. Read the latest CDC statement here.

We are waiting on further guidance and authorization from state and national public health agencies before we begin to give out booster doses.

Consider checking with your health care provider or your local pharmacy to see if boosters are available. We will update our website and share information widely once we are able to give out boosters to the authorized populations.

Boosters are authorized for these populations:

• People 65 years and older
• Residents in long term care settings
• People 50-64 years old with underlying medical conditions
• People 18-49 years old with underlying medical conditions, depending on individual benefits and risks
• People 18-64 who are at increased risk for Covid-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting, depending on individual benefits and risks

For all of these populations, boosters are only authorized if it has been at least six months after the second dose in your initial Pfizer series. We are waiting for clarification on whether this means “six months after the date of second dose” or “six months after the two week mark past the second dose.”

Currently, these doses will only be for people who previously received two doses of the Pfizer vaccine.

People who received Moderna or Johnson & Johnson are not qualified for boosters at this time.

Guidance on what “underlying medical conditions” means has not yet been released.

We anticipate further guidance will come from the CDC to help people and their medical providers understand what this means and who is eligible for booster doses. In the meantime, consider reaching out to your doctor to see if you may be eligible under this category.
