Read Data Snapshot

If you’re new to the data snapshot, we publish a weekly summary of the status for each of our metrics (you can find past issues on our data and dashboard page). The data below are from July 26—August 8.

Cases increased during this 14-day period with an average of 82 cases per day.

This is an increase from an average of 55.6 cases per day in the last Snapshot. Of the 82 cases per day, on average, 46 were not vaccinated. Percent positivity was 3.8% and an average of 2,159 tests were conducted per day. 93% of our July cases that have been sequenced have been the Delta variant of concern.

We strongly recommend that people ages 12+ get vaccinated as soon as possible. Per our recent advisory, we strongly recommend that everyone ages two and older—regardless of vaccination status—should wear a mask in indoor public spaces, at indoor private gatherings, and in crowded outdoor spaces where it is not possible to maintain distancing. Because the Delta variant can spread so easily, masks are an important way to help slow transmission of cases from person to person. People who are vaccinated may still be able to spread COVID-19 to others.

Our rate of vaccination has continued to increase!

We had an average of 543 doses administered per day, which is up 13% from 480 doses per day three weeks ago. 71.1% of all Dane County residents have received at least one dose of vaccine and 68.1% have completed the vaccine series. 82.1% of the eligible population (ages 12+) have received at least one dose of vaccine and 78.6% have completed the vaccine series.

Cases remain very low in congregate living facilities.

There were no cases linked to clusters in long-term care facilities, and for the first time in 15 weeks, there were no cases linked to correctional facilities.
