Immunizations
Immunizations are important for everyone, at all ages. We give free immunizations to reduce the spread of disease and to protect health. If you have insurance, you can get vaccines from your doctor and area pharmacies. Visit vaccines.gov for help finding a vaccinator!
Check the Wisconsin Immunization Registry to see what vaccines you’re due for. If you can’t look up your record, make an appointment with us and we’ll let you know and vaccinate you!

9/6/2024: Currently, we are not able to give COVID vaccines to adults because there was no state or federal funding to pay for these doses. However, new federal funding has become available, and we should be able to get some doses but do not yet have details. We will update this page if we are able to start giving COVID vaccines to uninsured adults.
We give free immunizations to adults who:
- Are 19 years and older, AND
- Do not have insurance that pays for immunizations

- Hepatitis B
- HPV (human papillomavirus)
- Influenza (flu)
- Meningococcal ACWY
- Meningococcal B (upon request)
- MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)
- Mpox, free for all who are eligible, available until 10/31/24 or when supplies run out
- Pneumococcal conjugate
- Inactivated poliovirus
- Tdap (tetanus, diptheria, & acellular pertussis)
- Varicella (chickenpox)
We do not give the following immunizations:
- Travel immunizations
- Shingles/Zoster
- RSV (respiratory syncytial virus)
- COVID-19

We have immunization clinics for school-aged children in fall of 2024. See our school clinics page for chances to get your child immunized for school required vaccines.
We give free routine childhood immunizations to infants and children (through 18 years of age) who:
- Do not have insurance that pays for immunizations, or
- Have Medical Assistance or BadgerCare, or
- Are American Indian or Alaska Native
If your child has insurance that pays for immunizations, please call their provider.

All City of Madison child care workers are recommended to get these immunizations.
Health Care Workers and Long Term Care Providers
Ask your employer which immunizations are required. Other immunizations are recommended for your line of work.
We don’t give most of the immunizations recommended for travel. See “immunizations for adults” above for immunizations we do give and to learn if you qualify.

Schedule an Appointment
If you're making an appointment for more than one person, make an appointment for each person. For example, if you and your two kids are all getting vaccinated, make three separate appointments. You can use the same phone and email address for all appointments, but please use different names for each appointment.

About Getting a Flu Vaccine
- The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months of age and older get a flu shot every year.
- It is safe to get your flu shot and a COVID shot or booster at the same time or without regard to timing.
- If you're pregnant, getting the flu vaccine helps protect your baby from flu infection for several months after birth, before your baby can be vaccinated.
- While some people who get vaccinated can still get sick, flu vaccination helps protect against serious illness, hospitalization, and death.

- We give immunizations by appointment only.
- You can schedule an appointment at our South Park Street Office or our East Washington Avenue Office.
- We provide an interpreter, if needed.
