ROAD SALT REPORT, 2008/09
The Road Salt Report (PDF) is an annual compilation of municipal deicing salt use in the Yahara Lakes watersheds. Sodium and chloride levels are monitored in the Yahara Chain of Lakes, Madison's drinking water, Dunn's Marsh, and Starkweather Creek. Trends in salt levels and its effect on Madison's water resources are examined, and suggestions for operational changes are provided.
